What I Like about You
What I Like about You is a well-known American television sitcom set in New York City. The series follows the lives of two sisters, Valerie Tyler and Holly Tyler, her younger sister. A rather interesting plot, very popular, which gave way to the desire of many fans to acquire the What I Like about You DVD or the What I like about You Bluray.
Valerie is an uptight taskmaster, therefore very organized and rather neurotic. Holly is a rambunctious and narcissistic teenager ñ you know the type - who doesn't want to move to Japan to follow her father to his new job. Instead, she arranges to move into her elder sister's apartment in the beautiful city of New York. We have two strong sisters who really love each other. As appropriate, they have equally loyal friends (Lauren and Gary).
In some of the early episodes we could witness nice physical comedy done by Amanda Bynes. Her performing style was favorably compared by several critics to that of Lucille Ball. However, the physical comedy lost emphasis in later episodes. The humor of the show spoofs pop culture and also uses extreme deadpan manner.
One key theme of the What I Like about You series is the two sisters' exploits in love. In the first season, Valerie's boyfriend Jeff was seen as one of four love interests. She also found herself briefly attracted to two of her bosses; first, it was Vic and later Peter. However, she was later engaged to an old flame, Rick, and eventually got married to Vic as a result of a drunken night rush decision made in Atlantic City.
Initially, Holly was interested in Henry but, as her interest did not last long, she later started to date Ben; then, she got involved with her true love Vince. Yet, one constant is of course their love for each other.
One thing about the series, which some people who could not watch it from the beginning widely appreciated, is that the series frequently makes references to previous episodes so one can get to know details of previous deeds along the way. Another characteristic is that some of the show's storylines run concurrently, and at times they lead into further developments, which is very similar to the popular Friends series.
