Wonder Years
Those who have already purchased the Wonder Years DVD remember the popular American TV dramatic comedy series created by Carol Black and Neal Marlens in 1988. The pilot could be seen in January that year.
It is the story of Kevin, Paul and Winnie back in 1968 when they were about to start junior high. In the pilot, Winnie's elder brother gets killed in action in the Vietnam War. Kevin meets Winnie, who offers him the first kiss he had ever been given, but their relationship does not lead anywhere yet; it is just an unsaid relationship. Winnie starts to date a popular guy - Kirk McCray, and Kevin briefly gets involved in a relationship with Becky Slater. Kevin still has feelings for Winnie so he breaks up with Becky who unfortunately becomes a recurring nuisance for him. Later, Winnie dumps Kirk as well so the two share a second kiss at the start of the summer holidays. Although Winnie dates Paul (who has left his girlfriend Carla) for a while, round Valentine's Day, Winnie and Kevin soon start dating each other again.
A little before the summer break, Winnieís family move to a new house some miles away which means she will have to attend another school. However, they decide to stay together and maintain their relationship. It is a success. Their bond lasts longer this time.
But a beautiful new student - Madeline Adams ñ in Kevinís school catches his eye; in the meantime, Winnie meets Roger and breaks up with Kevin. What a tempestuous relationship! The two stay apart until Winnie is injured in a car accident. That is the very moment they get together again.
If you buy the Wonder Years Bluray, you will see that as soon as they graduate from Junior High, Paul goes to a preparatory school while Kevin and Winnie go to the same school. A series of other flings follows but the two are reunited again when they go to a double date and find themselves attracted to each other once more.
As you can see, they come close to each other and fall apart several times throughout the series. The show treats the typical sentimental torment of the young generation which is so familiar to many of us. Get the Blu-Ray and enjoy their story by your own fire.
